Distinguishing between slot players and video poker players when it comes to multipliers is a dangerous trend in the gaming industry. Corporate accountants are killing the gaming industry. Their lack of understanding the simple math behind the return on games has lead to a disproportional multiplier system that has grown like a cancer in gaming. Giving a slot player 10x points and a video poker player 2x makes no sense. On the surface, slots hold around 10% and video poker holds about 1% so this gives the illusion that the difference in the multiplier makes sense. However, slot returns are not changed based on how the game is played and video poker returns ARE affected by how the game is played. Much like blackjack, all video poker players think they know basic strategy but it goes much deeper than that. Just like blackjack and its many variations, all with different strategies, video poker has so many base games, Jacks or Better, Bonus Poker and about 61 others but it also has so many variations like Quick Quads, Super Times Pay, Ultimate X and about 35 others. There are also other factors like the number of hands and pay tables giving players about 15,000 games and strategies to choose from and remember.
Even though the hold on a video poker game may be as low as 0.5%, the actual hold is closer to 5% because of the decisions made by the player. You are punishing video poker players by giving them only 2x versus the 10x you are giving your slot players. It makes no sense and video poker will become even less popular as a result.
If this is the new standard that some math whiz came up with then why aren't you differentiating between skilled and non-skilled table games? Both baccarat and real blackjack, if you can find it, have a 0.5% hold theoretically but the base game in baccarat is not affected by player skill where blackjack is. Roulette has a hold around 5% and is not affected by player skill. Why are all table games lumped together when it comes to multipliers? Using the same logic, shouldn't baccarat players get a lower multiplier? Casinos wouldn't dare because they know where their big money comes from.
